Music in the Somerset Hills teams up with Morris County's finest choirs for a festive month of holiday performances this December!

SNOW ANGEL

Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. & Sunday, Dec. 8th at 3 p.m.

The Presbyterian Church in Morristown

Dr. Anne Matlack leads the 100-voice Harmonium Choral Society in a program entitled SNOW ANGEL. Experience rebirth and beauty through the eyes of children, under the watchful gaze of angels, in composer Sarah Quartel’s evocative work Snow Angel, for chorus, cello and djembe.  The performance will also include the East Coast premiere of Joe Gregorio’s Unbound Angels and gems by Bruckner, Buxtehude, Hailstork and Rossi.

The festive season concludes at First Night Morris on December 31, as Harmonium presents two sets of enchanting Christmas carols at the Church of the Redeemer in Morristown (6:00-6:45 PM and 7:00-7:45 PM).

An Elizabethan Christmas

Somerset Hills Chorus conducted by Stephen Sands, This year, we’re bringing the magic of An Elizabethan Christmas to life in two shows on December 7, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the stunning Gothic setting of S.W. Bowne Hall at Drew University (right behind the Shakespeare Theatre). The concert will feature a selection of timeless Christmas carols spanning the ages, accompanied by harp and percussion, performed in a venue that echoes with history and grandeur.

Sounds of the Season

Masterwork Chorus, under the direction of newly appointed Music Director Dr. Martin Sedek, rings in the holiday season with Sounds of the Season. The program features selections from Bach's Christmas Oratorio along with classical and contemporary holiday gems, from Gustav Holst to Irving Berlin.

This December the Masterwork Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Martin Sedak, also presents Handel’s beloved oratorio, Messiah, with a professional baroque orchestra. Supported by over 110 talented voices and four professional soloists. The performance, a treasured holiday tradition for the entire family will be performed onstage in the exquisite Dolan Performance Hall, on the campus of St. Elizabeth's University. The Morris Choral Society will present their fall concert on December 15, 2024 at 3 PM. The concert is entitled Home For The Holidays - Celebrations Around The World, and will be held at the United Methodist Church on the Green in Morristown, NJ. Special guests will include the Frelinghuysen Middle School Select Choir, and also the Express Male sextet.
